Kgomotso L. Matsunyane

Kgomotso L. Matsunyane is a producer, director, broadcaster, editor and entrepreneur whose work has helped shape the African media landscape for over three decades. Her curiosity, editorial sensibility and commitment to African stories connect a career spanning television, radio, print and film.

She was the first Channel Director at BET Africa and the second editor of The Oprah Magazine South Africa. On radio, she hosted Good Morning Gauteng and Uncaptured on Kaya FM, as well as The Weekend Breakfast with Kgomotso Matsunyane on 702. Uncaptured received the Liberty Radio Award for best commercial afternoon drive-time show in 2019.

As a founding partner of T.O.M. Pictures, she executive produced Soul City and A Place Called Home, and co-produced Jozi, Gums & Noses, Material and the International Emmy-nominated comedy series Sorted. While overseeing drama at SABC1, she commissioned The Pure Monate Show. She also produced and presented Late Night with Kgomotso on SABC 2.

Through One Man Studios, founded in 2010, she conceptualised and executive produced Rise and It’s a Feminist Thing, making space for feminist conversations and challenging stereotypes. Her work now extends into public relations and digital campaigns, alongside creative production and broadcasting.

Her entrepreneurial and community work includes founding Die Urban Padstal, a monthly market in Selby, Johannesburg, supporting independent makers and small businesses, and the Feminist Library of Jo’burg.

Founded in 2010, One Man Studios is an independent multimedia agency with roots in feminist production. The studio creates entertaining and compelling content that reflects, celebrates and promotes African identity, and collaborates with creative and communications partners to meet each project’s needs.
